Unperceived existence

"If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

Scientifically, No. Sound is the sensation excited in the ear when the air or other medium is set in motion. Sound is vibration, transmitted to our senses through the mechanism of the ear, and recognized as sound only at our nerve centers. The falling of the tree or any other disturbance will produce vibration of the air. If there be no ears to hear, there will be no sound.

Philosophically though... If one never knows true love is really ever REALLY happy?

Is love only TRUE when it is TRUE LOVE? Is Happiness really Happiness when it is TRUE HAPPINESS?

How many people live and die never to experience true love or true happiness? I bet if they were in the forest, lots of them would have heard the tree fall.

The sad thing is though, once you have tasted it... nothing else is good enough. If you lose it you will forever be chasing it like a crack fiend looking for that high.

Would you rather never have experienced it and settle in your mediocrity?

Two monks were arguing about the temple flag waving in the wind. One said, "The flag moves." The other said, "The wind moves." They argued back and forth but could not agree.
The Sixth Ancestor said, "Gentlemen! It is not the wind that moves; it is not the flag that moves; it is your mind that moves." The two monks were struck with awe."

The tragedy of Material Culture

Tragedy of material culture: In the 1500s it would have been possible to read all books in existence...or at least the ones worth reading. Nowadays, you know there are things out there that YOU should be read, YOU should be watch, YOU should be listening to, but will NEVER be able to.

Earth, North America, California, Southern California, San Fernando Valley.

This is home.

Sometimes I wonder have I overstayed my welcome?  Maybe the grass is greener... well.. maybe...

Thoughts become Destiny.

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your DESTINY.”

Coffee

In my last trip to the Philippines, I discovered San Mig 3 in 1 Coffee. Quite a brilliant concept. It is coffee, creamer, sugar in a satchet. All there! And perfectly made everytime!
By no means am I a coffee snob. Although I do own a fancy coffee maker, I am not one to brew coffee for just myself.
The temperature outside has dipped below the 40 degree mark on certain mornings... I usually have juice with breakfast... but since I have been back to the Philippines, I have been drinking more of this  San Mig Coffee.
A friend even sent me his favorite Kopiko from Indonesia...  I even tried the various other flavors they had. Strong, Mild, etc. But I like Original best.
The problem is, I seem to experience Shortness of Breath. I maybe false attributing it to the coffee but I never had this problem before I started drinking it.
One more thing I have to worry about.
.

Ugh I must be bored.

1.  What was the first thing that came to mind after waking up on new year's day?
This better be better than last year.

2.  What does new year mean to you?
It means a new beginning. A new leaf. Another chance at being great.

3.  What does your horoscope say on new year's day?
Who cares!

4.  What is your favorite inspirational quote for new year's?

5.  Three things you'd like to accomplish in 2011.
Be happier. Be more productive. Write more. Travel more. Learn a new skill.

6.  What are you looking forward to in 2011?
More money hahahaha.
I guess more money means more of everything.
More of whatever money can not buy.
More of whatever I can not afford.
I am kidding of course.. I just don't wanna answer this cheesy crap.

7.  Fashion style or trends you'd like to see in 2011?
Ummm no more fedoras please..oh yeah and no more Uggs. No muffin tops wearing "sexy" clothing (that's and oxymoron. muffin top:sexy)

8.  Your travel plans for 2011.
Hope to go back to Boracay. Thailand? Europe? I would be happy if just one of those comes to fruition.

9.  What would you do differently this year?
I will change whatever I have to in order to make it a GREAT year! (sure)

10.  A photo of yourself in 2011 (solo or with other people, things you love, etc.)
Well...you want a photo? This is the only thing I could find that has been taken in 2011.

Blanket was a gift from James Jonson.  Well-used in this nippy weather. Thanks James!

Your turn! Answer and post in comments...

Damn Bush.

Sorry. I just had to blame somebody for the economy. And yeah I blame George W.

Heart on your shoulder.

I guess part of having a blog is opening yourself to other people...sometimes even strangers.

Funny coz I read other blogs and wonder how much of the crap I read is really true?

Is their life really THAT exciting and fun?

I sometimes cringe that I have a blog. I am not very good at censoring myself...or making good mature decisions.

That pic that I picked for example. I have gotten feedback that it is NOT appropriate.

But I thought it depicted the theme of the blog... the me that people do not know.

I bet half of the people I interact with on a regular basis had no idea I had a tat.

I actually have won money in bets with people who said that there is no way I have a tattoo.

Oh well, I will probably give in.

Or not.

Prayer

The LORD bless you and keep you!
The LORD let his face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you!
The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!
It is so weird. This was the first reading today at mass. After mass, I watched Braveheart ( I think I have seen it before). Anyway, at the beginning of the movie... they read the same passage during a burial scene. Coincidence or a sign?

Great movie btw.

Magic.

Notice how the words SATOR AREPO TENET OPERA ROTAS written in a square so that they may be read top-to-bottom, bottom-to-top, left-to-right, and right-to-left. The earliest known appearance of the square was found in the ruins of Pompeii which was buried in the ash of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD.
